HUNTING FIELD DESCRIPTIONS
Field Report Our crews have been busy preparing our fields for the 2010/2011 season. Along with the usually sorghum, corn has been planted in Iowa and Remington fields. See you on October 1st!

IOWA FIELD
Cover Sorghum, corn and switch grass.
Location First field on your right as you come up the driveway.
Parking Designated parking area on the south side of the field, next to driveway.
Details Easy to walk. Wooded area on East side offers a challenge and has low laying wet areas.
Hunting Strategies Rows are cut running east & west. A lot of hunters start in the south switch grass and work their way north. After covering the north half of the field, most hunters will make a pass through the wooded area located at the far east side of the field. Make sure you cover the woods because there are always a few extra birds hanging out in there. However, be careful and watch out for the water. After you cover the woods, finish up by covering the switch grass at the south end of the field. If you have time, cover the field twice. You never know if a bird flew in from another field.
Safety Since you are close to the driveway in this field, always pay attention to cars coming up the road. Let the cars pass before you finish your push towards the road. This field also butts up to the BROWNING FIELD. Pay close attention to other hunters in this field and respect the boundary markers.
WINCHESTER FIELD
Cover Switch grass.
Location First field on your left as you come up the driveway. Parking Designated parking area is located at the north end of the field. We encourage you to walk to the field from the main parking lot.
Details Two fields in one (birds released in grass area). Great cover throughout. West side is a challenge but almost always holds extra birds.
Hunting Strategies Rows are cut running east and west. The easterly part of the field is all switch grass. Most hunters start at the south end of the field and work their way north. Cover all the switch grass first. After you have done this, work your way west and you will heads towards heavily covered wooded areas. Be sure to make your way to this natural cover area with more switch grass.
Safety This field is covered on the north side by the TRAINING FIELD and the northwest side by the RUGER FIELD. Pay close attention to other hunters in these fields and respect the boundary markers.
BROWNING FIELD
Cover Switch grass and sorghum.
Location East of the clubhouse.
Parking Park in the main parking lot and it is an easy walk to the field.
Details Easy to walk but hillier than Iowa. Wooded area on North East side offers a challenge but almost always holds extra birds. Hunting Strategies Start at the sorghum that is on the Northwest corner of the field. The rows are cut running north and south and you will start walking east. Once you get to the last two rows of switch grass, skip the next to last row and go all the way to the last row. By doing this, you will keep the birds from running out of the field on you. The switch grass north of the clubhouse to the pond is also a part of the Browning field, along with the wooded area in the Northeast corner of the field. Safety Always pay attention to cars and people in the parking lot. Do not shoot towards the clubhouse or parking lot. The Browning field butts up to the Iowa field on the south and the Remington field on the north. Pay attention for other hunters in their respective fields.
RUGER FIELD
Cover Sorghum and switch grass.
Location This field is located to the west of the clubhouse and 5-stand. It is bordered by the Beretta, Winchester, Remington, North and South Dakota fields. Parking Main parking lot or drive down the access road that is located immediately to the west of the clubhouse. Ruger Road is located immediately to the south of the bridge.
Details Our biggest field. Ruger is great for the hunter who is up for a challenge. Be prepared for low laying areas that could be wet.
Hunting Strategies Start with the sorghum on the north end of the field, then head south over the ditch. Work the switch grass north and south between the ditches, then continue south all the way to the Winchester field boundary fence. Make sure you hunt the ditch banks surrounding the field on three sides. These are great areas for that wily rooster to hang out.
Safety Because this field is surrounded by so many other fields, always watch for other hunters. Be careful as you work through the field; be wary for the drainage ditches.
BERETTA FIELD
Cover Mostly sorghum with switch grass.
Location This field is located north and slightly west of the clubhouse. It is due north of the Ruger field and west of the Kansas field. Parking There is a parking area located at the field entrance. You will use the access road directly to the west of the clubhouse and follow it down past the bridge. After you cross the bridge you will see the Beretta Parking sign.
Details Great for pointing dogs. Strips of sorghum are narrower than in other fields. Hunting Strategies This field has long, beautiful strips of sorghum (w/ some switch grass mixed in) that are cut running North and South. You will start at the east end of the field and work your way west. Once you get to the last two rows, skip the next to last row and go all the way to the last row. By doing this, you will keep the birds from running out of the field on you. This field also has a heavily wooded area on the west, north and east sides of it that usually offer a few extra shots. Safety With Ruger field and Kansas fields located to the south and east of this field, always watch for other hunters.
