Meet
Dash, a European Goldendoodle. Owner/Member Derek Pawlak.
In the past Derek loved
hunting with labs, a few Brittanys and short
hairs but never a doodle. The breeder said the dog should be able to hunt given their heritage (poodles were originally breed for hunting and are excellent retrievers). Dash’s father is a European Golden Retriever which are lighter colored, and have blockier head, compared to American Golden retrievers. In England and Europe, this is what you would find if you visited a Golden Retriever. Dash’s mom was a very soft haired, white standard poodle.
Both the stud dog and mom were good sized dogs. Dash was born 12-12-06 and we brought him home in February ’08. I joined Milford Hills during the summer of ’08. Chris was very helpful is helping me work with Dash; setting up the training field and giving me pointers on how to train Dash. In December our “puppy” turned one and was able to work an entire field to get every bird. Today at 1 year 4 months, our little puppy is 75 lbs and extremely athletic. To sum it up Dash loves to hunt! When he sees me loading up my hunting gear his tail will wag until he can “kennel up” for the ride to Milford Hills (smart dog).

Scott Kirchoff, our lead Hunter Safety Instructor, with Abby. Abby is 3 years old and knows her way around the woods "Up North" as well as the duck marsh and the pheasant field.

This is Bonasa Flats’ Boondocks Bandit (Gage), an 18-month old German Shorthaired Pointer. Gage, owned by Mike Kriefski, recently received his AKC Junior Hunter title shortly after recovering from a severely broken front foreleg. Gage, who still has a steel plate and eleven screws in his leg, was also recently awarded a 112-point maximum score at his NAVHDA Natural Ability Test. In addition to training and hunting at Milford Hills, Gage hunts the Wisconsin north woods for grouse and woodcock as well as North Dakota for pheasant, ducks, and sharptails. Gage comes from Bonasa Flats’ Kennels in Wrightstown, Wisconsin, and is the product of their first Boon X Belle litter – a NAVHDA Versatile Champion and AKC Master Hunter to a Utility Prize 1 and AKC Senior Hunter respectively. www.bonasaflats.com
